Quorn Work Cafe - Stokesley

Quorn, launched in 1985, is a leading manufacturer of meat substitute products based in the UK. They specialise in vegetarian and vegan options, including minced meat, chicken, pizzas, lasagne, cottage pie, burgers, and hot dogs. Quorn has a strong workforce of over 850 employees, most spread across their three biggest UK sites, with smaller international teams throughout Europe.

The Meet Up

Working with Ultimate Commercial Interiors, our Sales Manager, Mayan Christophides, met with Quorn to better understand their requirements and the spaces they want to utilise. It became apparent that they wanted a single space to dine, socialise, and collaborate. A big drive of theirs was to reduce the divide between the office and factory staff, creating 'The Village Green' —a comfortable space for ALL employees to share and enjoy, socialise and dine together, and take time away from their desks.

The Vision

To achieve their desired look, we chose our Colin banquette seating together with the client. Colin is comfortable, with plush foam seating and solid steel legs. The legs add aesthetic styling and keep the chair off the floor, making it easier to mop and clean without damaging the furniture.

Responding to the client's desire for a unique finish, we introduced a bespoke horizontal fluting to the back of the Colin. This involved adding horizontal lines that mirrored their existing furniture. Such a custom request was a perfect opportunity for our in-house developers and craftsmen to showcase their skills. They not only designed the feature but also seamlessly integrated it into the product, ensuring it met the client's expectations.

Final Thoughts

Looking back on this project, we are thrilled with the outcome. The seamless progression of the project, from the initial fact-finding mission to the custom development of existing furniture and, finally, the manufacturing and installation of 11 Colin banquette seats, is a testament to the dedication and attention to detail of our staff at every stage of JDD Furniture. The client's satisfaction with the end result is the best validation of our efforts.
