With workspaces being open plan and privacy at a premium, solutions were needed to bring a sense of solitude and silence back to the office. 2011 saw the rise of Norah - a collection of sofa dens designed and created to provide a quiet space for individual working. Created by a hungry Joe Duffell and James Mercy, they wanted the world to see that commercial furniture didn't have to be boring but could be stylish and functional, ditching the traditional materials and adopting softer, more welcoming options.

Norah, created as "a secluded space for a silent moment," stood out thanks to her unique styling. Angled high walls added privacy while reducing external acoustic noise. An upholstered timber frame and thick plush cushioning provided a comfortable seat that was a welcoming contrast to anything on the market at the time.

JDD was founded on the concept of fresh design talent partnered with experienced local manufacturing knowledge. Fast-forward 15 years, and Nora is back with recognition of that founding philosophy! We've dropped the H and given her a facelift thanks to the next generation of designers that have become part of the JDD family. However, we haven't compromised or sacrificed her fundamentals or the quality and luxury for which we are renowned. Historically only available as a convertible, a hard-top version is now an option, providing a roofed option for extra privacy.

Still true to her roots as a secluded space for a silent moment, Nora continues to offer the same sense of privacy, comfort, and quiet focus, now with even more ways to make solitude stylish.
