Sustainability – jddfurniture

At JDD Furniture, sustainability is built into how we design, manufacture, and deliver our products, not added as an afterthought. We invest in responsible materials, energy‑efficient manufacturing, and circular design principles that reduce carbon impact across the entire business, while supporting long‑term project value and product lifespan.

What it means for you

  • We design and manufacture in-house at our UK HQ, reducing lead times, overseas shipping costs, and project risk.
  • Clear, accessible sustainability data to support ESG, planning, and BREEAM reporting.
  • Products designed for longevity, reconfiguration, and reuse.
  • Traceable, responsibly sourced FSC® certified materials, fully documented and specification‑ready.

Materials & Traceability

  • At least 96% of all our timber is FSC® certified, removing risk and ensuring you are covered when specifying a project. You can immediately tick boxes for material provenance, responsible sourcing, and alignment with key sustainability frameworks.
  • Recycled yarns such as SEAQUAL® are made from marine plastic waste. It provides a recycled, traceable textile that helps projects hit environmental targets without compromising aesthetics.
  • We source most of our materials within a 25 mile radius of our HQ, and the rest nationally, which helps reduce delays and avoid overseas customs issues. It also helps support our sustainability targets by reducing transport miles and embodied carbon.
  • As Made in Britain members, our in‑house teams enable fast mock‑ups, samples, and design refinements,  keeping schemes agile and on track. Want to see it in action?

Energy & Operational Impact

In 2025, our solar‑powered manufacturing saved over 40,000 kg of CO₂ and today we are 93% self-sufficient for our electricity needs thanks to installing solar panels on the roof of our ever-expanding building and recent investments in inverters and storage batteries.

Longevity & Adaptive Reuse

Designed for repair, replacement, and reuse.

  • All major components are mechanically fixed, allowing full separation of glass panels, plywood structures, seating elements, carpets, and electrical components, with no glued structural elements.
  • We can repair, reupholster or replace seating modules and removable cushions.
  • Replacement components, including glass windows and doors, metal fixings (hinges, magnets, and studs), and electronics (PIR, lighting, and power), can be easily swapped out.
  • Interior and exterior panels are designed to be removed, reupholstered, and reused without damaging the rest of the product.
  • Tables and all table fixings can be easily added, removed or changed.

It all sounds great, but what tangible impact does it really have?

FACT: Our circular design has reduced our wood waste by 18% over the last 12 months!

Waste reduction & helping the community

All our waste is disposed of responsibly. Textile offcuts are donated to local schools and academies for their art classes, while scrap wood is sent to local universities for their design departments. What’s left gets sorted and sent to dedicated recycling plants: Grade A gets chipped and shredded, whilst Grade B is incinerated for energy. Using low-VOC water-based adhesives provides a cleaner, safer working environment for our employees and reduces the amount of harmful chemicals in our end product.
