DREAM

Market research
When considering a new product, whether due to a noticeable gap in the market or a customer request, we first examine what similar or direct solutions exist and what we can provide better to improve your experience. This may involve using more sustainable materials or improving usability or aesthetics.

Internal think tank
The development process blends imagination, practical thinking, and foresight into future trends or styles. At JDD Furniture, we believe the best ideas come from collaborative work, and our internal think tank sessions are an excellent way for like-minded people to develop new ideas together.
During these breakout sessions, the team will explore all new ideas and propose the best for further analysis and exploration. These projects will move on to the next stage of the process.
DESIGN

Product visualisation
Once an idea is chosen for exploration, our in-house product designers begin translating the requirements into a visual product, carefully incorporating the findings from our internal think tank. While letting creativity flow, the new item's primary practical purposes are always kept at the forefront. We never sacrifice practicality for styling, but develop clever solutions to incorporate both.
Internal brainstorming sessions keep the project moving forward, ever scrutinising and reimagining areas that can be improved or explored further.

Prototyping
Our prototype stage is where creativity, practicality and logic come together to build and visualise our vision in a physical form. We utilise cutting-edge technology, including state-of-the-art laser cutters and 3D printers, to bring it to life. This step is essential for testing the frame design and identifying where complications might arise.
Presenting the finished prototype in our internal brainstorms, we listen to everyone's feedback and polish the finished product, preparing it for a broader audience reaction. Said product gets created in full size, with every care and attention to detail taken that you would find on any of our production-ready products.
DEVELOP

Frame visualisation
A great design is one thing, but it has to be commercially viable to manufacture. This is where our design engineers come into their own. Using a combination of their own initiative and state-of-the-art software, it is their job to determine the best way of manufacturing the frame. They have to consider what materials would be best and how pieces will be joined, whether that is using traditional woodwork methods or using screws and or brackets.
Not only that, but from a sustainable perspective, we are mindful of the types of wood we use, where it comes from and what glues and resins might be present in their manufacturing process. We also source low-VOC versions if we use any chemicals or adhesives. For example, we go against industry standards and use a water-based spray glue for our furniture, which is more environmentally friendly. When cutting out a frame, the engineers are mindful of placement to help reduce material waste and create a more efficient workflow.

Market reaction
They say the proof is in the pudding, and what better way to find out if your customers like something than to ask them directly? We launch new ideas nationwide at trade shows and private events, allowing you to get hands-on with our latest creations. This is good for building relationships and provides valuable feedback and insights into our product in a real-world scenario.
All feedback is carefully documented and relayed back to our designers, who take it on board and incorporate the changes into the product design, where possible.

Refine and finalise
Now that the prototype has been publicly visible, the teams must collate all the information, refine the design and procedures, and officially finalise the manufacturing process. This is the final step before the product becomes officially available to order and goes into production.
DELIVER

Product production
We have dotted our i's and crossed our t's. We have designed, debated, amended and fixed. We have received criticism, feedback, ideas and queries and have resolved them all. We have researched materials and bettered industry standards where possible. We have optimised production and reduced waste throughout the manufacturing process. Finally, the product is live and ready for orders.
The new product complements our existing products thanks to meticulous planning and teamwork, further enhancing your experience and solidifying our reputation as a full-service in-house furniture designer and manufacturer.
